Delight Yourself in the Lord

devotional
Delight Yourself in the Lord

You are very special because you are a part of the Kingdom of God. As I was praying today the scripture came to me: "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalms 37:4.

I love the word of God so much because He is always making it new and fresh. He gives us different insights in scripture as we take the time to really seek Him. I have asked the Lord many times about this scripture. What does it mean to delight myself in the Lord?

When I delight myself in someone, I want to spend lots of time with them getting to know them, appreciating them. There is no human relationship that can be as fulfilling as the one with our Creator. I love the Holy Spirit's sense of humor. To delight means to make Him our focus. One time the Lord showed me that I came to Him with so many other thoughts I was just preoccupied. I asked Him to take a spiritual bulldozer around my mind and clear away all the distractions. Actually, it is rather rude to meet with someone and be so distracted you are not paying any attention to them even if you are trying. Have you ever had that happen? I have.

As you delight you share secrets. "The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him." It seems like that is the bottom line.

Dear Father, You alone are worthy of our adoration and praise. Help us to submit our lives daily to You, and to come and be able to focus on Your majesty and glory. You have provided everything for us which pertains to life and Godliness. Thank you for Your yoke of real freedom. Thank You that as we submit to this it is light and not heavy. We do not have to struggle anymore because You are with us every step of the way. Thank You for being such a gracious and loving Father. We choose to humble our hearts before You, and cherish Your fellowship. Thank You for changing us into Your image and likeness, so we can better honor and serve You. In the precious name of Your son Jesus, amen.

Have a delightful day in the Lord special ones. You are truly loved.
